The Cottage at Strongate
Dorset Countryside Charm

Strongate Cottage
Strongate Cottage is a traditional thatched cottage in a peaceful location, a perfect escape to the country and rural retreat. We are located on a small working farm with cows, calves, ducks, geese, stream and spring water. The cottage sleeps four, is traditional in layout and is heated by night storage heaters. The cottage is situated 3 miles north of Bridport, down a winding country lane, has a pretty garden with wooden garden furniture.

Wonderful stay in such a peaceful spot. I loved watching the bird visitors in the garden, great walks and loved visit to nearby farmers market – 06 Dec 2020

Wonderful rural bolt hole to relax and recharge batteries – but also easy to explore nearby Bridport, the coast and lots of v tasty eateries. – 01 Nov 2020

We stayed there for 4 nights and it was a great base to explore the surrounding area. With being in a working farm, it would be great for children but for me and my husband, the serenity and calmness of the place were a great comfort due to us working from home the last 7 months. Tessa and her dad Bob kept the place clean, provided hand sanitiser due to the pandemic and a lovely gesture of giving us a delicious coffee cakes on our last night. We love the place and hoping to visit again soon. read less – 22 Oct 2020

We slept like logs. Milk in the fridge for our arrival and welly boots to borrow were extra little touches. Tess responded immediately to any questions, we really enjoyed our stay despite the rain. Took a long walk along the beach at West Bay, walked around Eype and had a lovely lunch in the Cobb Inn in Lyme Regis, all dog friendly. A much needed escape from reality, would highly recommend. read less – 31 Oct 2019

We stayed 4 nights and especially our son would have loved to stay longer mainly because of the animals (kettle and two calves who were born during our stay, sheep, ducks, goose….), the trampoline and of course the ride in the tractor. There was a lot to discover in an arround the farm. The surroundings are nice for walks, Bridport and the beech are just a few miles away. We really enjoyed the afternoon sun in the beautiful garden, so peaceful and quiet. The cottage is small, but featured anything we needed for a family of 4. It has a homely touch with the photographs of the family and the fresh flowers put in the kitchen. Thanks again! read less – 06 May 2019
